The association was formed in 1986, after a formal application was made in August 1985 to join the Midland Counties Ladies Crown Green Bowling Association (now the British Crown Green Ladies Bowling Association).  The first officials were: President Mr Derek Bradley, Chairlady Mrs Cath Dudfield, & Secretary Mrs Doreen Ward.  Their hard work enabled the association to be formed and for the ladies in the Dudley area to be involved in playing County matches for the first time, and to have a local association to promote the game for all lady bowlers.

In our first year we lost all home games, won 1 away game and  lost all 5 matches overall.  We won our first home game in 1987 on Dudley Town, but it was not until 1991 that we won our first game overall when we played South Staffordshire, winning by 8 shots. Over the years, with more experience, the county side has gradually improved and in 2004 we qualified for the Waterloo Cup semi-final and in 2005 went one better to qualify for the Championship semi-finals having won all our games.  2007 was our best year to date, and we played at the Waterloo Hotel BC in Blackpool against Burton in the Waterloo Cup Finals.  Unfortunately we lost the game by 41 shots, but we had a fantastic day of bowling and one that everybody will remember for a long time.

As well as organising and playing in County Matches, we also enter teams in the Veterans Championship as well as the Junior County Competition. The association runs regional heats of 3 National Competitions: The BCGBA Ladies Individual Merit Championship, The Dorothy Piearce Memorial Pairs Competition and  The BCGBA Ladies Junior Merit.  The County now runs an annual Triples Event, held locally and open to all bowlers who play in the Dudley & District Bowling leagues, as a Charity Fundraiser with money being donated to local charities.

We always welcome new players of all ages, whether as part of the team, or as one of those important people: the measurers, markers, referees and most definitely the supporters!
